North Plainfield to Hold Winterfest 2020 - Count On Having Family Fun!

SOMERSET – Do you need a midwinter pick-me-up? Freeholder Director Shanel Y. Robinson invites residents to attend Winterfest 2020, on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at North Plainfield High School, located at 34 Wilson Ave., North Plainfield. The snow date is Feb. 29.

“This event will be a fun and free way for families to enjoy their Saturday,” said Freeholder Director Shanel Y. Robinson. “Residents can also learn about the 2020 Census and the benefits of participating in the survey.”

Sponsored by Somerset County, the United States Census Bureau and hosted by North Plainfield High School, Winterfest 2020 will be offering an interactive mix of fun and information about valuable county programs, services and initiatives including the 2020 Census survey. This family event will feature games and activities for children, prize drawings, giveaways, free pizza and other tasty treats.

Adults will have the opportunity to connect with community service providers, to obtain information about transportation services, food assistance, social services, employment with the U.S. Census Bureau and other jobs, healthcare, housing, and learn about the 2020 Census survey. Translators who are fluent in Chinese, Gujarati, and Spanish will also be available to assist residents.

Why is it critical for residents to participate in the census? Providing information to the once-a-decade census survey will help your community gain funding for programs such as emergency services, money for schools, affordable housing or new roads.

The U.S. Census Bureau serves as the leading provider of quality data by gathering current statistics about the population and its economy. The federal government is mandated to protect the confidentiality of every participant.

As a partner of the U.S. Census Bureau, Somerset County is committed to ensuring that “everyone counts,” through inclusion, innovation in public service, and by promoting the well-being of all residents and their communities through effective, efficient and responsive leadership.
