County Clerk Announces Extended Hours
to Pick Up Vote-by-Mail Ballots for the November Election


SOMERVILLE – Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter reminds voters that they can apply for a vote-by-mail ballot for the Nov. 5 election. In addition to regular weekday hours of 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., his office will have extended hours to accommodate those who want to pick up a ballot in person: Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Applications for vote-by-mail ballots are available online at http://www.co.somerset.nj.us/CountyClerkElectionDiv or at the County Clerk’s Office, located in the lobby of the county Administration Building at 20 Grove St.

Voters who would like a ballot mailed to them must apply by Tuesday, Oct. 29. Voters, or their authorized messenger, may visit the County Clerk’s Office during office hours up until 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, to fill out an application and receive a mail-in ballot on the spot.

Completed vote-by-mail ballots can be mailed to the Somerset County Election Board, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876. Ballots also can be dropped off at the Election Board, located next to the County Clerk’s Office in the County Administration Building. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned in person at the Election Board until the polls close at 8 p.m. on election night. Ballots that are postmarked by Election Day and received by the Election Board within 48 hours after the polls close also will be accepted.

Sample ballots will be mailed to all registered voters about a week before the election. Digital copies are available on the Clerk’s website.
