Sign Up for Emergency Alerts from Somerset County
Be Aware and Prepared

As part of emergency preparedness, Freeholder Director Brian D. Levine encourages residents to sign up for free bulletins from Somerset County.

“It’s especially important that households stay updated during hurricane season, which lasts from June 1 through Nov. 1,” said Freeholder Levine. “Residents can receive alerts via email and text, plus our homepage at www.co.somerset.nj.us and social media pages are updated regularly.”

Alerts include weather-related county road and bridge closings, recycling cancellations and delays, senior center closings and other program changes due to inclement weather.

On the county’s Nixle page, you can request email notifications, text alerts or both. The service is free, although cell phone carrier rates may apply to text alerts.

To sign up, visit www.co.somerset.nj.us/alerts. To receive wireless alerts only, text SCNJALERTS to 888777. If you are already receiving emergency alerts from Somerset County, there is no need to re-register.

You can select non-emergency topics with the county’s free email alerts including press releases, e-newsletters, recycling information, senior center news and more.
