New Open Data GIS Website Available to the Public

Somerset County’s Information Technology (IT) Division has launched a new Geospatial Open Data website as part of its GIS Geospatial Gateway. This is Somerset County's catalog of authoritative geospatial data open to the public and the official platform for exploring and downloading geospatial content. Users can search, query, filter, view and download records for each dataset.

“There is a wealth of useful information on our GIS site that residents, businesses and local governments will find of interest,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Patricia L. Walsh, liaison to the county IT division.

More content will be added over time, so users are encouraged to return to the site for additional resources available free to the public. Here is a shortcut: http://bit.ly/SCOpenData

Data categories include:
Basemaps
Boundaries
Culture & Society
Demographics
Elections
Elevation
Government
Hydrography
Parks & Recreation
Property & Land Use
Public Health & Safety
Transportation & Transit

Somerset County's Geospatial Gateway is the county’s public platform for sharing and visualizing GIS data with its partners and the public. This collaborative information site and mapping platform provides access to interactive mapping applications, allows the public to create maps and facilitates the distribution of open data. You can scroll through the featured content or visit the Gallery to view the entire catalog of available maps, apps and data.
