Somerset County Park Commission to Host Holiday Floral Craft Workshop

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Register for a fun holiday craft workshop, by Monday, Nov. 14, and create a stunning floral centerpiece for any holiday table. Hosted by the Somerset County Park Commission, the Thanksgiving Floral Centerpiece Workshop will occur on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at North Branch Park on 355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater.

During the two-hour workshop, participants will use their creative thinking skills as Somerset County Park Commission Horticulture Manager Shauna Moore provides simple instructions to craft the centerpiece. Workshop participants will create a striking floral arrangement for their Thanksgiving table using long-stemmed, long-lasting seasonal flowers. This class is a great way to encourage creative thinking and help relieve holiday stress.

No experience or knowledge of floral design is necessary. There is a $55 fee per person, which includes all supplies. The class size is limited to 12 people. Participants should bring a box to carry their centerpiece home.

Somerset County Park Commission

The Somerset County Park Commission stewards nearly 15,000 acres of county-owned open space, which is visited by 2 million park users each year. Five golf courses have three driving ranges, a pitch and putt course and a recreational putting course. Other attractions include a riding stable, an environmental education center, two tennis facilities, an outdoor pool, paddle boating, a rock and rare plant garden, an award-winning rose garden, an arboretum, and a sensory and fragrance garden. Six county parks also offer amenities, such as athletic fields, picnic facilities, bike paths, fishing, birdwatching, cross-country skiing, and hiking.

North Branch Park
North Branch Park, the home of the Somerset County Park Commission’s administrative offices is in Bridgewater Township. The 194-acre park, acquired in 1961, offers nearly a mile of flora and fauna along the North Branch of the Raritan River. The park hosts the 4-H Fair, interesting exhibits, shows, and other fairs.
