1/28/2016 - Triple the Risk: Fighting Metabolic Syndrome - March 2nd

The Bernards Township Health Department in conjunction with the Regional Chronic Disease Coalition of Morris and Somerset (RCDC), Atlantic Health/Morristown Medical Center will sponsor a program entitled “Triple the Risk: Fighting Metabolic Syndrome”. The program will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Warren Craft Room at the Bernards Township Municipal Building located at One Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge, NJ. Participation is free but seating is limited. To register for this program, participants should email their name, email address and phone number to health@bernards.org or phone 908-204-2520 by February 29th.

The two expert physicians presenting this program include: Deborah Neiman, MD, from Step Ahead Wellness Center in Far Hills; and Michael Rothkopf, MD, FAPC, FACD from the Obesity Centers of New Jersey.

This program was designed to focus on the group of risk factors which when present simultaneously are called Metabolic Syndrome and can lead to increased risk for coronary heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. These metabolic conditions may include e a large waistline; high blood pressure; high triglyceride level; low HDL cholesterol; and a high fasting blood sugar.

Follow up sessions targeting the impact and benefit of nutrition and exercise will be held in the same place and time on the following dates: March 16th : Is Food Friend or Foe? And March 30th: Let’s Get Physical and Slow the Damage from Metabolic Syndrome. Additional information about these programs will be available at the initial program.
