SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services is reopening Warrenbrook Senior Center for in-person activities, programs, and congregate dining beginning Friday, April 1, and will continue to be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A celebration featuring musical entertainment is scheduled for the grand reopening day.

“We are finally easing our way back into normalcy and are excited to welcome the return of our seniors at the center,” said Somerset County Commissioner Paul M. Drake. “Our dedicated staff persevered and adapted very quickly during COVID making it possible for us to provide virtual programs during the pandemic. The staff has really missed seeing clients in person.”

Warrenbrook is the sixth Somerset County-operated senior center to reopen after serving clientele via virtual programs, outdoor activities, and curbside lunch programs throughout the pandemic. Five of the six county-operated senior centers were safely and successfully reopened at the beginning of March as COVID restrictions have been easing and the public is becoming more confident about attending group gatherings and events.

Registration Is Required
The clientele must register in advance and provide proof of vaccination or show county-approved exemption. To register, call 908-953-9440.

COVID Restrictions
The Office on Aging and Disability Services continues to follow state-mandated public healthcare guidelines and is committed to providing a safe environment for its staff and clientele, so senior centers are open three days per week until further notice. The clientele will be required to wear face masks and maintain social distance while at the senior centers.

Lunch at the Senior Centers
All six county-operated senior centers offer a nutritionally balanced lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for a suggested donation of $2.50. Lunch registration is required before 10 a.m. on the previous business day. Menu choices include a hot meat-based or meatless entrée or a cold meat-based or meatless boxed lunch.

Virtual Programs and Grab & Go Lunch Are Available
Zoom activities will continue to be available each month. Grab & Go lunch programs are also offered at all locations on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to all seniors regardless of their vaccination status. Click here for more information about Grab & Go lunch service and virtual programs.
