Somerset County has launched Recycle Coach, a free mobile app that is now available to residents. The app is designed to make recycling and solid waste information easily accessible as well as promote the “go green” goal of reducing, reusing and recycling within the community. 

“Our county is excited to join the Recycle Coach network,” said Freeholder Brian G. Gallagher. “This new app changes the way we communicate information about waste and recycling, and makes it convenient for our residents to stay up-to-date on any changes to their recycling schedule.

“Residents can access Recycle Coach from their desktop computers, mobile devices, or through digital assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home,” he said. “By leveraging the power of technology, the platform makes it easier for residents to get disposal information about thousands of household items anytime they need it – and the best part is, it’s free.” 

The app provides personalized collection schedules based on a person’s place of residence. After a resident downloads the Recycle Coach app, their mobile calendar will list Somerset County’s recycling events along with local curbside and recycling schedules, and schedule changes due to holidays or inclement weather.

Users of the app can improve their recycling rates by simply programming recycling reminders using the What Goes Where search tool.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has made New Jersey the first state to purchase the Recycle Coach app and make it available to all New Jersey residents free of charge.

Recycling is the law, and in Peapack & Gladstone it is very easy to comply. The instructions are as follows:

Businesses need to recycle by taking recyclables to the Public Works Dept. on Railroad Avenue. There are 2 large containers for cardboard and 1 container for glass and plastic bottles, aluminum cans.

Businesses are responsible for the separation and proper disposal of mandatory recyclable materials, such as newspapers, magazines, chipboard, glass and aluminum containers, corrugated cardboard, steel and tin cans, plastic bottles, mixed paper, motor oil, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, tires, electronic and yard waste. 

After dropping your recycling off at the Public Works Dept. it is then picked up by Somerset County. There is no curbside pick up for businesses.

When: Monday thru Friday - 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. - the North County Public Works Facility, 411 Chimney Rock Road - north of Route 22 - Building B, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 and the South County Public Works Garage, 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844

The following materials are accepted: computers (desktops and laptops), monitors (cathode-ray tube and flat panel), televisions (cathode-ray tube and flat panel), copiers, digital cameras, DVD players, e-book readers, fax machines, MP3 players, personal digital assistants (PDAs), printers, stereos, radio equipment, VCRs, audio visual equipment, typewriters, camcorders, telephones, cellular phones, circuit boards, modems, telephone mainframes, keyboards, mice, scanners, cables, wiring, power supplies, mainframe equipment and controllers.

Batteries are not accepted: Residents can recycle household hazardous waste and lithium and rechargeable batteries at any of the five scheduled Household Hazardous Waste drop-off events held at different locations around the county. AA, AAA, D, C and 9 volt batteries can be disposed in the regular trash.
